ES

Ellen Stephen, who likes to be called “ES”, has been involved with Community Building using the model developed by M. Scott Peck, M.D. since its creation in the 1980’s. She was also a founding member of the Foundation for Community Encouragement, the non-profit organization that promotes the workshops.
She has facilitated numerous Community Building workshops in many U.S. states and in Canada, Britain, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Belize.
She was part of the first group of facilitators, trained by Dr. Peck himself.
She has published books on community and spirituality: Vessel of Peace: A Guide for Pilgrims of the Spirit with Doug Shadel (Abingdon Press, 2007), and Together and Apart: A Memoir of the Religious Life (Morehouse Publishing, 2008). Her collected poems, including her poetic drama about Mary Magdalene, The Poet’s Eye, is published by Academica Press, (2012).
ES lives in a community as an Episcopalian nun. Her personal ministry within the Order of Saint Helena makes use of her community building skills in many ways, including hospitality, spiritual direction, preaching, and leading retreats.
